About

Our curriculum is designed to promote academic, physical, social, and emotional development to prepare students to be successful in college and in their careers. We are a Cornerstone school, which emphasizes best practices in literacy across all content areas. Our Instructional Focus states: All Liberty Learners will show growth in reading and comprehending at grade level.

Liberty School, previously a Math and communications Magnet school, continues to carry these themes. Students learn Math through Investigations, a hands‐on program that provides materials to help students learn complex concepts in concrete ways. These ;investigations offer students an opportunity to learn how to work and problem-solve individually, in pairs, in groups, and as a whole class. Specially designed Math camp lessons reinforce Mathematical concepts studied in the classroom to further develop and deepen knowledge and understanding. Math Camp activities take place in the classroom or in the courtyard. In addition, an upgraded TV studio allows our students to participate in a live morning broadcast of school news and announcements to the larger school community. While developing writing, speaking and computer skills, students are introduced to areas of television production. Our team of educators includes three (3) special education teachers, one (1) physical education/health teacher, two (2) instructional leadership specialists, and a school adjustment counselor. Partnerships with the 21st Century Program, Olympic Taekwondo, and several other Springfield School Volunteers, provide enrichment for our students. Whether during day, after school, or in the summer, our partners support school initiatives and projects.
